#confessionsofapersonaltrainer: I was wrong!
EXERCISE TRUMPS DIET when it comes to your health.
I know you have heard it’s 80% diet and 20% exercise, and I may have even said it periodically. But that actually goes against what research is telling us when it comes to health.
If a person eats healthy and maintains a healthy weight, but leads a sedentary lifestyle (Desk Job, no exercise) their risk of heart disease/diabetes/high blood pressure are all just as high as an obese person. However, if a person is overweight and exercises their risk of heart disease/diabetes/high blood pressure is significantly reduces, it’s even lower than the “thin fries” (thin person who’s a couch potato). Movement literally changes the hormonal and chemical makeup of your internal body in a ways that food can not. Don’t get me wrong. I’m not saying you can eat crap as long as you exercise. But I am saying that if you struggle with both exercising and eating healthy, start moving 1st. That’s the most important thing.
